Modelling Culture with Complex, Multi-dimensional, Multi-agent Systems

چکیده
Culture plays a significant role in human civilizations as a key determinant of relationships and organization formation, however, its role, key properties, and mechanisms are not yet fully understood. This work explores culture and cultural modelling from a complex systems, multi-dimensional, and multi-agency standpoint. The need for performing such modelling and simulation is evident since in-vivo organizational experiments are costly, not easily generalizable, and require lengthy analyses that may not be feasable in critical situations. Exploring the role and influence of culture on organizations is the aim of this chapter, whereby definitions, dimensions, and experiments have been introduced in order to show the evolution and emergence of culture as a complex, distributed, social system from a computer science perspective. This work contributes to culture studies by a) adding to the literature of culture as a complex system, b) presenting a new seven-dimensional model to describe and encapsulate culture, and c) simulating cultural interactions as a multiagent system of high functioning agents that achieve an equilibrium of beliefs.

On the use of multi-agent systems for the monitoring of industrial systems
The objective of the current paper is to present an intelligent system for complex process monitoring, based on artificial intelligence technologies. This system aims to realize with success all the complex process monitoring tasks that are: detection, diagnosis, identification and reconfiguration. For this purpose, the development of a multi-agent system that combines multiple intelligences su...
متن کاملFault Detection and Isolation of Multi-Agent Systems via Complex Laplacian
This paper studies the problem of fault detection and isolation (FDI) for multi-agent systems (MAS) via complex Laplacian subject to actuator faults. A planar formation of point agents in the plane using simple and linear interaction rules related to complex Laplacian is achieved. The communication network is a directed, and yet connected graph with a fixed topology. The loss of symmetry in the...

The main objective of this study is to reduce the retrieval time of a list of products by choosing the best combination of storage and retrieval rules at any time. This is why we start by implementing some storage rules in an Automated Storage/Retrieval System (Automated Storage and Retrieval System: AS/RS) fitted with a gravity conveyor while some of these rules are dedicated to storage and ot...
